Happy 17th Birthday, Flibby!
But, I digress... our dearest first child Flibby is almost all grown up. She's gone from a little baby with a head full of dark hair... to a precocious 9 month old toddling around the house (yes, she was fully walking at 9 months... Flibby has always been advanced for her age) to a cute little two year old that loved to play dress up! She still does but now it's in 50's dresses and vintage aprons. Though it's not dress up anymore because that is her style... and stylish she is!! to a giddy four year old that was always smiling and laughing... and she still is giddy and joyful and happy at 17! What a joy and a delight is our dear Flibby to us!! She's always positive, always content, always serving her family and others, always delighting in being her father's daughter and striving to be a Proverbs 31 woman in all she does.
What does our 17 year old girl do these days? She is a uniquely talented classically trained pianist! She is an avid reader of all books with her very favorites being all things Jane Austen... I must admit, I concur! She is mastering her seamstress skills - and, in fact, sews circles around her poor 'sewing challenged' mother! - her homemaking skills, her childcare skills and all the things that are important for a future keeper of her own home. These are not the things the world esteems. The world tells our young ladies that they should go to college, have a career, date and dabble in promiscuity, dress as though they have no respect for themselves or others, and that 'self' and 'feelings' matter most. Thankfully, our Flibby has embraced the Lord as her Savior and strives to hold in high esteem that which the Lord has laid out in His Word as important. With that her manner, her dress, her attitudes, her actions and her speech all reflect her gentle and quiet spirit and she holds herself in very high esteem as a child of the living God! It's a joy to watch!! If only I had been as spiritually mature at her age!
My sweet Flibby, you are succeeding! Your worth is already far above rubies and you are a blessing and a delight to your father, to me, to your brothers and sisters and all who have the privilege to know you. We couldn't be more proud of the godly young woman you are and we anxiously wait to see what plan the Lord has for you!
